Los Cristianos on Cruise Control

BESIDE the bright, new and inspiring Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos is still in full flow with its regeneration.

While the town puts the finishing touches to new pedestrian-only areas, it is already embarking on the next phase of Los Cristianos’ own town plan for greatness.

A landscaped selection of Cuban Royal and Canary Date palm trees now line every street and precinct inside the centre as part of a strategy to make Arona the greenest municipal in the south.

Los Cristianos’ beautiful church square is now a much more comfortable and social environment and hundreds of hanging plant pots have been gifted to residents with balconies in key areas of the town. Streets have been resurfaced; work on improving the visual impact of Los Cris harbour is about to begin, while access to and from the town is now quick and free-flowing.

The mayor of Arona, Alberto Gonzalez Reveron, is also set to rubber-stamp plans for an ambitious new sports village in the El Mojon district of the town.

The project will provide Olympic-standard facilities in racket sports, gymnastics, swimming, diving, and volleyball. The site will also home industry-related shops and leisure services. Three luxury hotels will be built nearby at a later date.

The town’s cultural centre is doubling in size and will be finished inside twelve months.

Close by, relandscaped park areas are now more akin to botanical gardens.

Meanwhile urbanisation in the town is becoming an increasingly extravagant affair with many new luxury suburbs on the east side of town. These have quickly been joined by handful of trim new bars and eateries, most notably the Oyster Catcher and Restaurante Caracole, recently opened, owned and run by the former first chef to the King of Jordan.

Parcels of land in El Mojon overlooking Los Cristianos town centre and port are set for residential developments of luxury villas and chalets in the near future.
